Mr. James Burl Heflin III

June 8, 1964 - February 26, 2022

Obituary-West Union-James Burl "J.B." Heflin III, 57, of New Milton departed this life on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with cancer. He was born on June 8, 1964 in Clarksburg to Jean Pitts Heflin and the late James Burl Heflin Jr. On June 28, 1997 he married Donna Gum Heflin who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Samantha Heflin, Weston, Britta Pereyra, Merritt Island, FL, one son James Burl Heflin IV, New Milton, grandchildren, Maxwell, Zoe', Payton and Mavrick, Merritt Island, FL; three sisters, Merelene Kelley (Guss), Salem, Jamie McNeely (Ron), Scarbro, WV, Renee' Lake (David), Parkersburg, one brother, Charles Heflin (Stephanie), Fairmont, mother-in-law, Mary Ann Gum, New Milton and several nieces and nephews. J.B. graduated from Doddridge County High School with his loving friends of the class of 1982. He enjoyed going to his class reunions and never missed one. J.B. worked for Asplundh,Tree Pres.and Nelson Tree from 1982-2001. He was employed by the WV Department of Highways where he worked in many positions from 2001 to present. J.B. enjoyed NASCAR and James Bond; he was also known as the "Mascot Man" as he knew the mascot when he asked, "Where'd you go to High School". He was a member and Trustee of Indian Fork Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted in the Spurgeon Funeral Home 56 Front St. West Union on Friday, March 4, 2022 at 1p.m. with Pastor Dan Fisher presiding. Interment will follow in the Loft Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, March 3, 2022 from 2-8 p.m. and after 9 a.m. on Friday until time of service.
