Clarence Ray Bonnell

July 22, 1928 - September 26, 2008

- Clarence Ray Bonnell, 80, of West Union passed away Friday, September 26, 2008 in the Louis A. Johnson Veterans Administration Center. He was born July 22, 1928 in Doddridge County a son of the late John Marshall and Eunice Maude Cottrill Bonnell. On February 26, 1949 he married Elizabeth Edwina Asher Bonnell who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Pamela Younkin and husband Mark, West Union, one son Randall L. Bonnell and companion, Loeta Faye Riddle, French Creek, and former daughter-in-law, Cynthia J. Ford, one special niece, Kay Davis, Middlebourne, six grandchildren, Chanda Crane, Breann Younkin, Mark Ray Younkin, Janna Younkin, Ray Dean Bonnell, and Lindsey Davis, eight great granddaughters, Audrey, Hayla, Ariel, Miranda, Savannah, Olivia, Elizabeth and Miriana, two sisters, Sandra Sue Blind, Greenwood, Rita Ann Hawkins, Orlando, FL, and several other nieces and nephews. One infant son, Steven Douglas Bonnell, one brother, Kenneth “Pinky” Bonnell and one sister, Leona Friend preceded him in death. Mr. Bonnell was a Certified Electrician and Entrepreneur. He had worked for Goodyear and Firestone in Akron, OH. He was the foreman when the PRT was constructed in Morgantown for West Virginia University. Ray was an Electrician’s Mate Third Class in the U.S. Navy serving on the U.S.S. Toledo and was a lifetime member of Post #3383 VFW, Akron, OH. Friends may call in the Spurgeon Funeral Home 212 Front St. West Union, on Sunday, September 28, 2008 from 4-8PM and after 9 AM on Monday September 29th until time of service. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 29, 2008 in the funeral home chapel at 1:00 PM with Pastor Denver Burnside officiating. Interment will follow in the Masonic Memorial Park, West Union. Combined Doddridge County Service Organizations will conduct military graveside services.
