Anna Thelma Schmidt

February 7, 1912 - January 12, 2010

Anna Thelma Hinterer Schmidt, 97 of St. Clara Community departed this life on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 in the Crestview Manor Nursing Home, Jane Lew. She was born on February 7, 1912 in Leopold a daughter of the late John and Gertrude Finster Hinterer. On Oct. 1, 1945 she married Herbert John Schmidt who preceded her in death on April 27, 2004. Surviving are one son, John Ancil Schmidt and wife Linda, Weston, one daughter, Anna S. Doak and husband Thomas, Smithburg Community, grandchildren, Tricia Thomas and husband Brian, Channahon, IL, Anessa Musick and husband David, Reisterstown, MD, Sara Holzer and husband Jon, Verona, PA, two sisters, Edith Riley, Leopold, Faye Riley, Camden, three nieces and three nephews. Three sisters, Regina Pollock, Ruth Strickling and Gladine Riley preceded her in death. Mrs. Schmidt attended Smith School and graduated from Weston High School in 1931. She continued her education at the Ohio Valley College of Business in Parkersburg. She worked in the Doddridge County Extension Office as a secretary for 13 years (1932-1945). Thelma was a lifetime member of St. Johannes Lutheran Church, a member of WELCA, a 63-year member of St. Clara CEOS and was a member of St. Clara Community Organization. Thelma enjoyed gardening, quilting and typing. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 1:00PM in the St. Johannes Lutheran Church with Reverend Linda Muhly officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Johannes Lutheran Church Cemetery. Family and friends will be received in the Spurgeon Funeral Home 212 Front St. West Union on Friday, January 15, 2010 from 2-8 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Johannes Lutheran Church, Rt. 1 Box 157 New Milton, WV 26411. On line condolences may be offered to the family at www.spurgeonfunerals.com.
